  43. is a non-menu-driven file handler. Many experienced users don't like to use DOS
  44. menu programs because, no matter how fast and versatile they are, they seem slow
  45. and confining. The difference between FILER2's commands and DOS's commands are
  46. that FILER2's are safer, because you are warned of possible problems such as
  47. overwriting existing files, yet more powerful. For example, FILER2's RMDIR will
  48. remove a directory if it is empty or not, after displaying the contents of the
  49. directory and asking your approval.

  65. Once you have selected a function, a cursor bar lets you select filenames
  66. already on the screen when you ran PIK, or if there are none, it will do a DIR
  67. for you.

  69. Drawbacks are that the files must be in the current directory, it only allows
  70. one file per line (which must be in a DIR format), and you cannot access more
  71. than one screen full of files. (In other words, we would like to see it work
  72. more like Select does in 4DOS.) Despite these limitations, PIK will often be a
  73. better alternative than either working at the DOS prompt or loading a bulky file
  74. manager.

  123. freshen or update archives, mass tag files within archives for deletion or
  124. extraction, and process PCED synonyms against tagged files. A file find
  125. feature is also included.

  167. window shows the files in each directory as you move through the tree. The third
  168. window shows disk, directory and file statistics.

  171. rename, view, execute, etc.) except archiving. We feel obliged to point out
  172. that most of the claims the author makes about the uniqueness of this program
  173. (eg: "the only TSR that can be loaded twice", "the only pop-up file manager
  174. that uses less than 160k") are not correct. Nevertheless, the program is very
  175. fast, easy to use, and well worth a look.
